Transition

His mind and thoughts once so easily readable and laid out completely bare for her to see, were now as untraceable as the tracks of a camel in a desert after a sand storm. It was like a shadow had been cast over his heart. A thick blanket covered his mind hiding from her anything which might make him as vulnerable and easily breakable as he had once been.

His mixed emotions and happy facade seemed like a gimmick of sorts which hid beneath them darker secrets and a hurt so truly profound and deeply embedded she could only catch her breath as she thought of the extent to which her words had scarred him.

Time and time again he tried to reassure her but the carefree ways and merry mask seemed more of a disguise to her, a thick shield keeping her precariously balanced just on the outer edge, at a safe distance he no longer permitted her to cross.
Fear and indecisiveness, so raw and deeply rooted had become a part of her as she watched him, simply wondering where life would lead him.

Her words bled out of her at times and she found herself unable to hold back. But as her mind began to create a world no other mortal could enter, she slowly closed her eyes and let it all go, like smoke vanishing into the cold misty winter night..
